Marine Corps PFT Calculator & Standards
The U.S. Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test (PFT) has three events: an arm exercise (pull-ups or push-ups), the forearm plank, and a 3-mile run. Each scores 0–100 points by age and sex, for a maximum of 300.
The three events
- Arm exercise: dead-hang pull-ups (up to 100 points) or push-ups (caps at 70).
- Plank: forearm plank, one age/sex-neutral scale.
- 3-mile run: timed.
How it is scored
Pull-ups can earn up to 100 points; choosing push-ups caps the event at 70. The plank is scored on a single age- and sex-neutral scale. You must clear each event's minimum and total at least 150 points to pass — 235+ is 1st Class, 200+ is 2nd Class, 150+ is 3rd Class.

Frequently asked questions
What events are on the Marine Corps PFT?
Three: an arm exercise (dead-hang pull-ups or push-ups), the forearm plank, and a 3-mile run. Each is worth up to 100 points (push-ups cap at 70), for a maximum total of 300.
Pull-ups or push-ups — which should I do?
Pull-ups, if you can. The push-up option is capped at 70 points, so you can't earn a perfect 300 or, in most brackets, a 1st-Class score with push-ups. Marines are encouraged to do pull-ups.
What is a passing PFT score?
You must score at least the minimum points in every event and total at least 150. A total of 235–300 is 1st Class, 200–234 is 2nd Class, and 150–199 is 3rd Class.
Is this an official Marine Corps PFT calculator?
No. This is an independent reference. The calculator gives an unofficial estimate using the published USMC PFT scoring tables (public domain); it does not score official tests.
