Navy PRT Calculator & Standards

The U.S. Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT) is the fitness half of the semi-annual Physical Fitness Assessment. It has three scored modalities — push-ups, the forearm plank, and a cardio event (1.5-mile run, 2-km row, or a 500-yard / 450-meter swim) — graded by age group and sex.

The modalities

  • Push-Ups: Maximum push-ups with correct form in 2 minutes.
  • Forearm Plank: Time holding a correct forearm plank.
  • 1.5-Mile Run: Time to run 1.5 miles.

How it is scored

Each modality scores 0–100 points, mapped to a performance category (Outstanding, Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Probationary, or Failure). Your overall PRT is the category of the average of the three modality scores. Failing any single modality is an overall failure. Separate standards apply above 5,000 feet of altitude.

Frequently asked questions

What events are on the Navy PRT?

Three scored modalities: push-ups (2 minutes), the forearm plank, and one cardio event — the 1.5-mile run, a 2-km row, or a 500-yard / 450-meter swim. The stationary bike is also authorized and scored by the official app.

How is the Navy PRT scored?

Each modality earns 0–100 points by age group and sex. The points map to categories from Outstanding down to Failure, and your overall PRT is the category of the three-modality average. Failing any single event fails the test.

What is a passing Navy PRT score?

You pass by scoring at least the Probationary level in every modality and not landing in the Failure category overall. Satisfactory or better is a clean pass; Probationary passes but is flagged.

Is this an official Navy PRT calculator?

No. This is an independent reference. The calculator gives an unofficial estimate using the published U.S. Navy PRT scoring scales (public domain); it does not score official tests.
